Subject: [ITAccessLiaisons] Monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up, [Thu 7/14/22 at 10 AM PT]

Hi everyone,

It is almost time for our monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up!
Please join us for another casual and friendly virtual meeting to discuss some accessibility challenges.

Topic 1: Review website/applications
Reviewing your site/application for accessibility is the main component of this meet-up and we all learn from such reviews.
As always, let me know if you would like to review your site/application for accessibility.

Topic 2: New APG website
This year on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the new APG website was launched<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/*ARIA-apg__;Iw!!DZ3fjg!89Gkdus5QGp-2TRpTs4LfmBQsnLROdaYJ14k0Gr2YvTrjK3DHpPtSVIyrHTJspedmD6qgrnjWSJUWUFT74Okv1X4mwxbONeAJA$>! For those of you that are unfamiliar, the APG provides guidance, samples, and documentation of how various bits of ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) markup is used in conjunction with HTML to make your favorite web widgets like comboboxes, date pickers, alerts, etc. accessible to folks using various forms of assistive technology. This website is designed to be much more user friendly, simpler to use, easier to read, the list goes on! If you haven't seen the old one, it was basically one single long page with tons of information and links, which made it a) very overwhelming for most people who are trying to learn and b) really difficult to parse and find what you need.

About Monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up

Our meetings usually consist of two 30 minute segments. The first 30 minutes of our meetings are dedicated to casually reviewing your projects. This generally includes lots of hands on testing and code review. If you are working on a project and would like to get accessibility feedback from your peers, please let us know and we will add it to the agenda. We always encourage you to bring your own sites and topics, as it is a great learning experience for everyone.

Then for the last half of the meeting we have some topics we would like to bring to you to discuss, although we may not have time to cover all of them in depth.

How to Join the Mailing List
We send our announcements through various internal mailing lists, including the accessibleweb mailing list - which is open to the public. Please subscribe to that list to receive the announcements if you haven't already done it yet. You can do so by accessing this link:
