Hi everyone,
It is almost time for our monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up!
Please join us for another casual and friendly virtual meeting to discuss some accessibility challenges.
Topic 1: Review website/applications
Reviewing your site/application for accessibility is the main component of this meet-up and we all learn from such reviews.
As always, let me know if you would like to review your site/application for accessibility.
Topic 2: Accessibility of Sports Media and Museum Artwork/Artifacts
An industrial design student at UW and his team will share about two projects they are working on. One project aims to make sports media more accessible for those with visually impairments through a touch-based device. The second project focuses on increasing access to museum artwork and artifacts primarily for those with visual impairments. They will be sharing their projects with us and seeking for accessibility advice.
Topic 3: WCAG 2.2 Upcoming Updates (continued)
We will continue with our conversation about WCAG 2.2 update from last month.
A new version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) [boia.org]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.boia.org/blog/latest-public-draft-of-wcag-2.2-features-nine-new-success-criteria-other-updates__;!!K-Hz7m0Vt54!mYpqB_5ifSCZrjUWD12Vl14UzBaM9AluJrG7C5qB_PtkqjK8LWTDaFNe49H_Zt3PNIeJ5dumeA$> is coming! WCAG 2.2 will very likely be ready before the end of 2022. This will be considered a minor version update. If you are already familiar with WCAG 2.0 and/or 2.1, you probably have several questions. Please join us and let's look together into its backward compatibility, new success criteria, and conformance level.

About Monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up
Our meetings usually consist of two 30 minute segments. The first 30 minutes of our meetings are dedicated to casually reviewing your projects. This generally includes lots of hands on testing and code review. If you are working on a project and would like to get accessibility feedback from your peers, please let us know and we will add it to the agenda. We always encourage you to bring your own sites and topics, as it is a great learning experience for everyone.
Then for the last half of the meeting we have some topics we would like to bring to you to discuss, although we may not have time to cover all of them in depth.
