Benefit raises funds for woman suffering from toxic shock syndrome.

A fundraiser Sunday in Howell is benefiting a woman who suffered 
multiple medical complications after what seemed to be just a sore 
throat.  

Danielle Amato, 28, had a case of strep throat that went completely 
wrong. Her body was taken over by toxic shock syndrome. It started in 
January. Doctors figured out that the root of her issues was caused 
by a bacterial infection known as Group A streptococcus. While strep 
throat diagnoses might seem routine to some, this infection came with 
a rare and frightening complication.
