A man with no hands will find a way to raise a water bottle to his
lips if he is thirsty enough, Wheeling Park High School students
observed Wednesday.
Brad Hertig had set school records in 2001 as a linebacker with the
most tackles as a sophomore at Fairview High School near Cleveland.
Then when working a summer job a few months later, he lost his left
hand and his entire lower right arm in an industrial accident.
But Hertig´s high school football career didn´t stop there. He would
go on to rejoin his team and achieve first-team All-Ohio honors his
senior year. He attributes his success to a coach who thought better
than to pick up a water bottle for Hertig and spray his mouth to give
him a drink.
