In 1997 in Wichita, KS, Cindy Lawrence gave birth to her second child 
- Natasha. The delivery went smoothly, and a day later, Cindy and her 
high school sweetheart, Mark, returned home as happy new parents. 
However, three days later, those smiles were no more.  

"It was after she was born, as Mark kindly puts it, the wheels came 
off," Cindy said.
