From ron.stewart at oregonstate.edu Thu Sep 25 14:40:10 2003 From: ron.stewart at oregonstate.edu (Stewart, Ron) Date: Sat Jun 9 18:27:55 2018 Subject: Update Message-ID: <6A68AD13D67F9543A962D6E6A36B3180027AFD6E@mtranier.nws.oregonstate.edu> Good afternoon from sunny Corvallis, Oregon. ATHEN is still alive but it would appear we are on life support at this point primarily due to the budget woes we are all dealing with. Anyone want to give a project update? As to the bylaws, the most recent draft can be found at: http://staff.washington.edu/danc/athen/bylaws.html Please send any revisions to me and I will work with the respective folks as needed. And now for a public service announcement: I would like to strongly encourage any of you who can to attend the Accessing Higher Ground conference in mid-November. I personally find it to be one of the most valuable professional growth opportunities that I participate in. CSUN is great for macro exposure, but AHG is a small conference with very high quality content and Boulder is a great town for a conference. Here are the details: ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY AND ACCESSIBLE MEDIA CONFERENCE - NOV. 11-14 CU-Boulder, in collaboration with WGBH, Boston, EASI, & others, will be sponsoring the sixth annual Assistive Technology and Accessible Media in Higher Education Conference. November 11 - 14, 2003 CU Boulder - University Memorial Center Keynote Speaker: Beth Finke, NPR Commentator & Author Session Highlights: Learn the Federal 508 Guidelines for Accessible Web Design Tools & Methods for Designing Accessible Instructional Material The Coleman Institute: Research Initiatives in Assistive Technology Design The Accessibility of WebCT, Blackboard and other Course Tools Text to Speech Tools for Students with Learning Disabilities A full-day Accessibility Forum presented by WGBH, Boston and the League for Innovation in the Community College (Scholarships available for Community College affiliates) Universal and Accessible Design with Flash, Dreamweaver & Adobe Acrobat Assistive Technology Service Delivery in the University Setting Distance Education and Students with Disabilities Registration info & complete agenda (over 40 workshops) at the url below.
