The mic would be plugged into the aux jack on the Telex TDR-4AA FM receiver that receives the lecture. I tried a generic microphone, but the level was too low. Though I could put something together that will work, I wonder if Telex has an accessory mic. I tried to find one on their web site, but was frustrated by the lack of clear navigation--or maybe the info just isn't there. So--does anyone have info on using a microphone with these older Telex FM receivers? (The built-in mics are not directional enough and introduce too much background noise.) A sound screen can also be put on the microphone to further increase its directionality, but this may be something that the student is not going to want to use. You are going to need to make sure that it is self-powered, (i.e. has an internal battery). Here is a good supplier for this kind on thing: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category/180/mics Ron ________________________________ From: Baker, Nick [mailto:Nick.Baker@mso.umt.edu] Sent: Thursday, May 19, 2005 10:51 AM To: Stewart, Ron; athen@lists.oregonstate.edu Subject: RE: [athen] RE: Accessory mic for Telex FM units Thanks, Ron- The RS mic you suggest is an omni-directional unit, though.
