There will be a great position opening up at The University of Tennessee
at Chattanooga to begin this fall. This is an Adaptive Technology
Coordinator to work directly with the AT needs of a fairly small
caseload of students. The brief job description is below:



Adaptive Technology Coordinator: The Adaptive Technology Coordinator
will be responsible for maintaining all AT software and hardware in the
OSD labs as well as the various labs on campus. In addition, the AT
Coordinator will be responsible for translating textbooks, handouts,
syllabi, music etc. into alternative formats. These formats could
include, but are not limited to; Braille, electronic format, word
documents on USB drives & DAISY formatted documents. This coordinator
will serve as a liaison between OSD , IT, and other computer labs on
campus to ensure information accessibility. The AT Coordinator will also
serve on a variety of university committees to insure campus compliance.



In addition, the AT Coordinator will serve as the specialist for
students with Visual Impairments. This coordinator will assist students
in determining the appropriate textbooks needed prior to each semester
and request alternative copies from publishers, cut, scan and edit
textbooks that are unavailable in alternative formats from the
publishers, edit text and reproduce in the requested formats, maintain
up to date OCR software and screen reader systems, organize translation
of class notes, handouts, syllabi etc., assist in training and
supervising readers and scribes each semester.



Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation
Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, Computer Science or related
field.

Experience working with people with disabilities and working knowledge
of the ADA and Rehab. Act.



Job Skills: Knowledge and skills with Adaptive Technology hardware and
software preferred. Knowledge and skills with general computer hardware
and software applications required. Experience with common text-editing
software, high speed scanners, Braille embossers, OCR Software, CCTV
systems, DAISY players and other forms of adaptive technology.



Chattanooga is a beautiful city with small town charm and UTC is a
great Metropolitan University. With less than 10,000 students, we are
