[Athen] Virtual servers

Liz,
What exactly do you mean by virtual servers? Do you mean authenticating
for licensing on the virtual server or do you mean a virtual environment
accessed remotely using remote desktop protocol?

If you mean authenticating for licensing, then it should not be problem
and would be same as network installation. However, if you mean
provisioning in a remote virtual environment using VMware etc, then there
are some issues. Currently literacy applications like Kurzweil do not
support remote access using protocols like RDP. Majorproblem is the audio
is buffered on the remote machine and there is a lag which may not be a
problem if you do not want to synchronize it with visual tracking. It is
about 3-4 words behind on a high speed connection on the university's
network and increases relative to connection speed.
