[Athen] OCR software recommendations

Actually Tim, issues with Abbyy 9.o have quietly been cleared up by Abbyy. Granted it is recommended that you upgrade the technology in use with the program, but nowadays the price of a quad-core with 4 gigs of RAM and a TB of storage is extremely reasonable. Check Tiger Direct for prices and you will see what I mean (while you are at it pick up a 22" ACER monitor and thank me later!).

ATHENians,

We are looking into purchasing new OCR software.  We are currently using ABBYY Fine Reader 7.0.  I understand that there have been some issues with file size in 9.0.  Can anyone suggest or offer opinions on 9.0 or some alternatives (Omni Page, Readeris etc.)

Thanks,

Tim Balen
