The Universal Design Consultant is part of a team working collaboratively across campus to infuse accessibility and universal design of educational materials into the delivery of learning opportunities. In addition, we support the Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) which reflects the California State University's (CSU) ongoing commitment to provide access to information resources and technologies to individuals with disabilities. Major Duties

Under general supervision, works collaboratively with the Instructional Designers, Faculty Technology Center Staff, University Web Communications, Academic Technology, and other departments/divisions across the campus to provide analytic assistance and campus training in support of the implementation of Executive Order 926 (EO 926) and disability related legislation (including Section 508 technical standards for accessibility). Provides technical knowledge and expertise to faculty, with a focus in Universal Design, to assist in utilization of software tools and hardware in the development and delivery of learning components. Designs, develops, and delivers a wide variety of Web and/or multimedia materials for ATI training; conducts one-on-one training, seminar, and online webinar style trainings as required; and provides easy to use written documentation of step-by-step procedures for various delivery methods. Explores and researches accessible technologies and software applications in support of a universally designed learning and working environment, including various tools that enhance or augment the University's Learning Management Environment. Directs Universal Design training and support; creates and maintains Web Content; and performs Universal Design testing of applications. Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a job-related field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis up to two years. Equivalent to three years of full-time, progressively responsible computing experience that includes user support services.

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE MUST PASS A FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE.

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of the Web environment as a medium to present information from a user interface perspective. Knowledge of accessibility and interoperability issues of technology integration techniques. Knowledge of information technology systems and/or applications; generally accepted methods of documentation; and methods and techniques of programming. Familiarity with course authoring software and other programming tools. Ability and specialized skills to: research and survey new projections and/or releases to aid in the creation of accessible materials; apply and assess user needs; identify, analyze, and address user problems; communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing to individuals and groups; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The university offers an excellent benefit package.



Hiring Maximum for this position is $5581 per month.
