[Athen] JAWS and VM Ware

I've been watching this thread with interest. We are currently trying
to run a version of Vista with Jaws 10 inside VM on one of our XP
machines, and Vista is crashing as soon as I try to open Jaws. So,
anyone have any suggestions? My tech has been doing her research, but
so far, no solution.

Hi, Hadi. Sorry for the delay. Our Access Technician installed mine
and did it real quickly but he is pretty tech savvy and has done it on
several machines here in our office.

If you want to email him with questions, I'm sure he'd be glad to
respond. His name is Justin Hicks: jxhicks at ualr.edu

I have been using VMWare to run a RedHat 7 on top of Debien and I use
screen program that I wrote over a decade ago to access them with a
refreshable Braille display. So I am not using Jaws or any voice engine
to access them.
VMWare is giving me recently hard time to maintain especially when I
upgrade any substantial packages. It wants me to recompile it and it is
very picky about having the matching GCC compiler and kernel.

I am considering to move away from VMWare and use Virtual box instead.
Can you please describe your experience installing and running Virtual
box?
How complicated is installing an XP virtual machine in Virtual box?

Thanks,
Hadi

I'm using it in Virtual Box without any problems thus far.

Is anyone currently successfully using JAWS with VMware? If so, I'd be
most grateful if you and I could e-mail off list. I've been asked by
someone who is contemplating using JAWS and VMware--apparently the
latest versions of both.

Nolan
