My name is Paul Harpur and I am an academic who is involved with advocating for the rights of people with print disabilities to obtain textbooks in accessible formats. In November/December 2008 I performed exploratory interviews in Boston MA and I am currently working on the ability of university students with print disabilities to access textbooks in Ireland and Australia.
I am contacting you in relation to my research project which is seeking to identify current practices in U.S. Universities and post secondary colleges regarding the provision of textbooks in accessible formats to students with print disabilities. I wonder if you would be able to assist me with a survey I am conducting?
I am requesting librarians or representatives from disability services or equity departments to spend 15 minutes to fill out an on-line survey at:

https://survey.qut.edu.au/survey/168146/4745/

If you cannot open the Http address directly from this e-mail please try copying and pasting this link directly into your internet browser or e-mail p.harpur at qut.edu.au for alternative access.

The data from this survey will be used by U.S. advocates and by advocates in other jurisdictions to identify regulatory reforms which will minimise the burden upon educators and students and maximise the educational outcomes of students with print disabilities.

This survey has ethical clearance from the Queensland University of Technology. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact me at p.harpur at qut.edu.au.

Warmest regards,

Paul Harpur
