Nettie, good questions!  There are, literally, a ton of workarounds if
you are willing to look for them.  Even getting the DRM off the
downloaded original can be done with the right tools.  Not that you
heard that from me, nor will I EVER admit to knowing how to do it, as
that is often considered piracy and I'm being very very careful not to
cross that line.  Unless I have a good reason.

 

Just do some targeted Google searches and you should find complete
procedures along with software recommendations to do what it is you want
to do.
