Our friends in Australia have produced what looks like to be very
comprehensive guideline for eText production.

I know this is something that has been expressed as a need in many list
conversations and would like to get folks feedback on these in regards to
curriculum.  A similar effort is underway in the UK that is textbook
specific and I will forward those on when they are released.

The Round Table Executive Committee are pleased to announce that the Round
Table Guidelines for Accessible E-text are now available as a free
downloadable document from the Round Table website.

The Guidelines for Accessible E-text replace the Round Table's 1995
"Guidelines for preparation of text materials on computer disk for people
with print disabilities" and take into consideration the Australian
Government style guide, as well as e-text guidelines produced by other
organisations around the world.  The guidelines describe basic principles
for preparing e-text documents which will mean people with a print
disability are able to use and understand the content and have equivalent
access to the information contained in a document. The guidelines also
describe some best practice accessibility methods across a variety of
electronic formats in common use.

The E-Text Guidelines are available in a variety of electronic formats
(including Daisy, Large Print, e-Text, DXB and DBT) from
