Heidi,
There doesn't seem to be a quick fix for the ordering issue. The text
areas are properly re-ordered in plain text mode, but that causes the
loss of formatting in the exported file. I'm continuing to look for
creative ways of dealing with this issue.
One interesting behavior that I have noticed is that ABBYY 10
automatically formats page numbers as page number fields (with the page
number field code) if you're saving a word file in formatted text mode.
I'm wondering if I can find a way of either moving these fields
automatically or maybe applying DAISY styles to them directly.
Any thoughts, or experiences would be helpful in developing our process
further,
Thanks and Good Luck,
Jon

Jon,
>The retention of styles is perhaps the most important improvement in
terms of our DAISY production. However, the new version is not all
improvements. I have some concerns with the way the new ADART II layout
system is treating page numbers as header or footer text boxes. Another
strange problem is that the editor seems to ignore re-ordered areas in
formatted text mode now. (making it more difficult to move page numbers,
and retain styles at the same time.)<
So how do you get around the re-ordering issue? We've just now upgraded
to 10 and have already run into this problem.

Hi Ron,
We have just upgraded to ABBYY FineReader 10 this week and I have been
doing some testing with it. The user interface is largely unchanged.
Major improvements include: Faster operation, Additional Image
enhancements, (reduce motion blur, reduce ISO noise, and perspective
adjustment) Using the scroll-wheel to move between images, (no need to
ALT+Arrow Key any longer) and greatly improved style retention.
The retention of styles is perhaps the most important improvement in
terms of our DAISY production. However, the new version is not all

Overall I think that it's a good upgrade, but it's going to take me
some time to learn all of the quarks of the new version. I would
recommend spending a little bit of time with it before deploying it in a
production environment.
Just let me know if you have any specific questions,
Jon
