[Athen] cvent vs. regonline

Hi Christopher,

I went with Cvent and have been very happy with the decision. They gave us a
good 1-year introductory price because we only have one event per year for a
few hundred attendees. Having the advanced registration feature - allowing
different registration paths, choices and prices for different types of
attendees was crucial since we provide discounts to ATHEN members and offer
different prices/options for other affiliations. Also, the marketing
features of the software - being able to send out emails with mail merge
type features so that you could address each person by name in the email and
the ability to only send emails to certain groups (i.e. those who have not
responded) - was a big help. Our registration went up by about 20%; so even
though our renewal cost was more expensive, it proved worth it because of
the results.

The system is a bit daunting to learn. It's powerful and has many features
but once you learn it, it's a great tool as indicated above. Cvent built our
initial registration screens for no cost - that was a great head start.

Feel free to call for more info if you like (number below). Perhaps someone
who has used regonline can offer their perspective.

Regards,
Howard
