[Athen] Questions About UbiDuo

Thanks Wink. My director is thinking of using the device for short meetings with profs, financial aid, registrar, etc. She s looking for something that will aid with face-to-face communication for short meetings and avoid the high costs of interpreters for something that only lasts for maybe 30 minutes.

For what purpose? Communicating with colleagues, in meetings, with professors or advisement staff, it's a great communication tool. It is not designed to sub for CART or interpreting in the classes. We used it in a previous iteration on campus at my former college as we had no interpreting staff and it was an extremely useful tool for deaf students and visitors on campus to be able to negotiate their way through admissions, advisement, cashiers & financial aid, check out to meet with their profs or a colleague on campus etc. As a DRS manager/accommodations specialist, we used dual monitors & keyboards in my office to have typewritten conversations (achieves the same goal as the UBI DUO).

What is your director looking to solve?

Wink

Good Morning all,

My director saw the email for UbiDuo and is interested in exploring purchasing the device for students who are deaf on campus. Does anyone have experience with this product? What kinds of challenges have you encountered? What are the strengths, and so on?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Good afternoon all,

I am looking for a variety of users of AT, beginner to expert, to do content evaluation for me in the next couple of months. It is critical that these folks are actually users, and also cannot be undergraduate students do to the nature of the product evaluation. Please contact me off line if you are, or have someone who would be willing to participate. There is some compensation available, and it may be a long term effort depending on how round one goes.
