I just looked at the new Google search aggregator after reading a NYT
article on it:

Sigh, those of us using a screen reader have to use a "screen reader
friendly" version of the results which contains a lot of unlabelled images.
I didn't notice that the screen reader friendly version was any different
than the regular version.and am not sure why having an alternate
representation of the results is acceptable in 2011. I thought we were past
accepting alternate access?
