Description
Delivers assistive technology accommodations to students with disabilities
in order to ensure and maintain compliance. Also provides training on
assistive technology to students and staff within the Office of Disability
Resources, as well as, acts as a resource to other University departments.
Works collaboratively with the Office of Instructional Technology (OIT) to
facilitate the captioning process. Provides training to Office of
Disability Resources staff in the use of assistive technology.
Qualifications

Required:


- Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Computer Information
Systems, Computer Technology, Educational Technology, or related discipline
- Two years of experience with assistive computer technology (hardware
and software) as a user or technician
- Must have familiarity with strategies and experience working with
students with disabilities
- Demonstrated knowledge and sensitivity of issues relating to students
with disabilities and diverse populations
- Must have knowledge of current technology, usage, and functions of
assistive technology devices, computers and computer systems, hardware,
peripherals and specialized software in higher education
- Must have knowledge of effective best practices and current issues in
the field of accessibility in higher education
- Must have knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
- Must have knowledge and understanding of Universal Design
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive, collaborative
relationships with students, faculty, and staff
