Function:
Coordinates the production of accessible media for students with
disabilities in accordance with state and federal law. Coordinates and
assists in the conversion of textbooks, other text documents, visual
and audio materials to accessible formats based on student needs.
Assists in training student employees in accessible media production.
Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers
using strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and experience in production of accessible media,
OR an Associate's degree and two years experience in production of
accessible media. Knowledge and understanding of alternate media
methods and strategies. Knowledge of OCR, document scanning and
alternative format conversion processes. Experience using cloud
storage products (e.g., Dropbox Google Drive). Knowledge of
mathematical symbols used in algebra and statistics. PC proficiency in
word processing, spreadsheet, database and
presentation software. Effective written and interpersonal
communication skills. Ability to work independently, with strong
organizational and time management skills. Detail-oriented. Vision to
read printed materials and a computer screen. Hearing capacity for
verifying transcripts and captions. Arm strength to manipulate
physical objects of at least 15 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience utilizing OCR applications (e.g. Abby FineReader, Nuance
OmniPage, and Adobe Acrobat Professional). Experience utilizing Math
Type or Scientific Notebook for production of accessible math.
Experience in production of DAISY formatted books. Familiarity with
Adobe Creative Suite applications (Illustrator/Photoshop). Experience
producing accessible media for educational institutions.
