[Athen] v-scanner

I have spoken with other libraries who have decided that the automatic page turner is actually not a good idea for a couple of reasons:

1. The page turner was very temperamental and required a great deal of adjusting for different paper weights and stiffness, degree of static build-up, etc.

2. They found that the chance of damaging the books was much higher than they were comfortable with.

Before investing in a V-cradle scanner, you might also look at the Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600. It is a lot less expensive and does a decent job at 2-page scanning.

Hello my friends,

Our library is considering the purchase of a V-shaped scanner for their rare book collection and also to allow students with disabilities to be able to access some library books. Does anyone have one that they recommend? Does yours have an automatic page turner? If not, is that a big issue for you? Your assistance is deeply appreciated.
