Hi Jennifer,

The National Center for Accessible Media offers both free guidelines and customized training (for a fee) on describing math and science images.

Our research-based guidelines are here:
http://ncam.wgbh.org/experience_learn/educational_media/stemdx

Some additional research on description in assessments, which need a slightly different approach, is here:
http://ncam.wgbh.org/experience_learn/educational_media/describing-images-for-enhanced
and
http://ncam.wgbh.org/experience_learn/educational_media/accessible-assessments/item-writer-guidelines

If you are interested in more information about training, feel free to write to me and I'll put you in touch with Donna Danielewski, director of NCAM.

-Madeleine

Subject: [Athen] Training for Math Accessibility

Good afternoon,

We are trying to schedule training for math and science instructors on how to make math and science courses accessible, in particular writing alt text for graphs and formulas. Does anyone on the list provide this type of training or know of someone that does?

Thank you!
Jennifer
