We have not implemented connect yet, but I was asked to take a look at it.

McGraw-Hill sent us a VPAT and "tool kit" (attached if they go through). some info is on http://www.mheducation.com/about/accessibility.html The Canadian site<https://www.mheducation.ca/contact/accessibility/> has more information due to the strict Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) https://www.mheducation.ca/contact/accessibility/

Also see http://createwp.customer.mheducation.com/wordpress-mu/success-academy/accessibility/

The smartbooks I saw through Connect were non- accessible Flash. I would guess that a student who could not use them would get an "accessible" version of the textbook. Some of these could be in EPUB3, Daisy, or Html. Just as likely would be PDF or text, all of which would mean missing out on the adaptive learning system and any interactive features or assignments- not an equivalent experience I think.

Subject: [Athen] JAWS-inaccessible online coursework: McGraw-Hill Connect

As you know, publishers' supplemental online coursework has a history of inaccessibility for JAWS users. Although far from being completely accessible, Pearson has been able to digitally earmark their JAWS-readable My_Labs content so instructors can build it into their courses. However, I'm not as familiar with McGraw-Hill's product and we're facing similar issues when our JAWS users try to perceive and complete their Connect coursework.

Has anyone experience with JAWS users completing McGraw-Hill's Connect coursework? If so, what was done to make the material accessible? Alt formats? Additionally, if anyone has contact information for the appropriate department\personnel at McGraw-Hill regarding Connect accessibility, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Gratefully,
