Hi Al,
We currently have a Plustek OpticBook 3800 Book Scanner available for this purpose. It's quite fast for a flatbed, and the lid can be lifted up for larger books. I think we bought it for around $300 at PC connection. I would be glad to answer further questions.
All the best,
Matt

Subject: [Athen] scanning Books Without Cutting the Bindings?

Hello everyone,
Just curious what experiences folks have had with the latest solutions in this realm? What options are currently worth considering? Should we look at something like an OpticBook Book-edge model? What about camera based solutions? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
