Summary
The Accessible Learning Technology Coordinator's (ALTC) primary responsibilities are to run the daily operation of the Document Conversion Service (a.k.a. alternate media) and the Notetaking Service (including paid notetakers and smartpens), which are housed at the McBurney Center. This includes developing workflows, carrying out the production tasks, using technology effectively, and supporting the delivery of the accommodations for traditional and online classes to ensure equal access to instruction for students with disabilities. The ALTC is essential to helping students with a wide variety of disabilities understand how they can use these accommodations and related technology successfully as part of their educational experience at UW-Madison.

The ATLC serves as the lead worker communicating with students, consulting with faculty, processing requests, prioritizing work, and training students. The ATLC works with a team and trains and assigns tasks to student workers and volunteers assisting with these daily tasks. This staff member is responsible for ensuring that current information is maintained in the respective databases for these services, compiling statistics, evaluating the services, and recommending improvements.

This position also consults with and facilitates communication between McBurney staff, students, faculty, the Testing and Evaluation (T&E) office, and others when test accommodations cannot be provided by instructors or other academic department staff.

Thank you,
Todd Schwanke
