[Athen] VHL Central web site with blind students

Unfortunately, we could not come up with a reasonable solution using vhl, and the blind student decided to drop the class even after we were able to find a faculty member who would tutor him. He just found it too stressful. I've cautioned the faculty who use vhl that doing so with students who have visual impairments, or who are deaf/hoh, is seriously problematic. We also found much of the videos or slide presentations used that have voice-over were not captioned. Vhl has still not addressed my concerns to date.

    We've tried unsuccessfully using JAWS with vhl.central for several of our blind and low vision students over the past two years. I even tried to contact their tech support and webmaster, with no response. Total circle/loop on "your site is not accessible, particularly with JAWS..."

    Has anyone used this website: http://vhlcentral.com successfully with JAWS? It is for a Spanish course using the book Portales Spanish 1, and the students I am working with – one blind and one low vision are having an extremely difficult time with accessing this – I have had an in class support person working with them but they are struggling.
