Crazy idea, but perhaps the engineering students should partner with some of the people they’d like to help. It would increase the likelihood that they’ll end up with things that solve actual problems, and give them some great experience in inclusive design principles. The hard part of that kind of approach is finding people to work with – perhaps that’s something your center can help with.

Subject: [Athen] Looking for 3D Adaptive Solution Ideas

Good afternoon, colleagues!

We recently spoke to a couple of mechanical engineering students here at PSU who are interested in using their department's 3D printer (and other tools) to create adaptive solutions for our campus. We've chatted with other institutions who have collaborated with students on things like 3D campus maps, fraction kits, etc., but I know these students are looking for something more mechanical in nature.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Best,

Michele
