I don't know, here's the page content when I click on that link (I'm on a secure VPN, btw. And it does the same thing while not on a secure VPN):

Was it an outdated certificate warning? I simply clicked through it ("show me anyway")

Is anyone else having trouble accessing that athenpro.org link provided? I get a security error.

Thanks for your help,

Subject: [Athen] 2008 ATHEN Survey on Accessible Tech in HE (Thompson, Draffan, & Patel)

Greetings!

I'm currently working with my HR department regarding fair compensation for our Assistive Technology Coordinator positions. Alarmingly, my research indicates ATHEN's 2008 survey (https://itd.athenpro.org/node/87<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fitd.athenpro.org%2Fnode%2F87&data=02%7C01%7Cdavid.engebretson2%40wwu.edu%7C15f298c61da3438cef1d08d65c8298d8%7Cdc46140ce26f43efb0ae00f257f478ff%7C0%7C0%7C636798113314608707&sdata=lMJ0laEooyHb6tgYNmqO5mB45k2lYbVNwVIlE7bT1KA%3D&reserved=0>) seems to be the most recent study of its kind that attempts to gather compensation\salary information specifically for access technologist positions in higher education.

Terril Thompson's (University of Washington) paper in the ATHEN E-Journal Issue #4 (2009) (https://athenpro.org/node/88<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fathenpro.org%2Fnode%2F88&data=02%7C01%7Cdavid.engebretson2%40wwu.edu%7C15f298c61da3438cef1d08d65c8298d8%7Cdc46140ce26f43efb0ae00f257f478ff%7C0%7C0%7C636798113314618698&sdata=7cU82sm4t4g%2FjeF8ULGrV4tTbkgkMNLyw87id096PYg%3D&reserved=0>) entitled "Careers in Accessible Technology in Higher Education: Salaries, Qualifications, and Responsibilities" seems to be the "Staffing and Salaries" portion of the survey, but published separately. Unfortunately, my HR Department has deemed Study #1 invalid for its purposes due to its relatively low sample size (1 Texas respondent), and its survey of posted job announcements rather than actual participants.

On the other hand, although Study #2 does analyze responses submitted by participants, the author does not break down reported US positions by specific geographic location (Results section): "Geographically, 66 of the positions (69.5%) were located in the United States, 11 (11.6%) in the United Kingdom, 10 (10.5%) in Canada, and 6 (6.3%) in Ireland. Australia and New Zealand contributed profiles of one position each." Once again, my HR Department judges these results invalid due to the lack of statistics attributable to post-secondary institutions specifically located in my home state\geographic region.

QUESTIONS:

- Has ATHEN conducted a more recent survey on access technology salaries in Higher Education?

- Has your institution used the ATHEN survey data to help inform compensation\salary levels for your access technologist position?

Thank you so much for your responses!
