Deputy ADA Coordinator

The Ohio State University, one of the nation’s leading public universities, is seeking applications for the position of Deputy Coordinator for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). With the vision of supporting a university philosophy that values diversity and compliance, the Deputy ADA Coordinator will work to ensure the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities and accessibility to our campus, programs, and activities.

The Deputy ADA Coordinator will provide expertise on disability and access to inform decision-making and help to guide the university’s journey from compliance to seamless access. S/he will provide assistance to the ADA Coordinator in the development, implementation and monitoring of the university’s disability policies, complaint investigations, case management and training. The Deputy Coordinator will consult with university departments in responding to individual inquiries concerning accommodations and barriers to access related to student and public programs; the digital environment; the built environment and campus events; employment; and the university’s accommodation process. S/he will conduct or assist in conducting the investigation of complaints (e.g., failure to accommodate, barriers in the built and digital environments, and/or disability discrimination) as assigned. S/he will assist the ADA Coordinator with project management and special projects as assigned. Potential assignments include coordinating the annual Multiple Perspectives conference; the expansion of on-line training; maintaining informational materials regarding the university’s access policies; conducting policy and facilities access audits; and developing annual status and training reports.

The Deputy ADA Coordinator will also help represent the university with community leaders in support of Ohio State’s proactive commitment to equity.

Master’s level degree in disability studies, rehabilitation, Human Resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a working knowledge of Section 504 and the ADA; minimum of four years of progressive experience implementing disability policies with demonstrated skill in their application in at least two of the following areas: accommodation processes, digital access, instructional access, employment, facilities access, communications access, or complaint investigation; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage confidential information with discretion; ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
