Thank you for your suggestions. I will try Voiceover on Mac myself. We may have to get the quiz presented another way. I will contact Instructure and the Respondus people to see if/when they will resolve. I really appreciate your advice. -Leyna

To support students with reading disability only thing so far worked for us was using Apple desktop’s “text to speech” feature. It was working while ago, then got broken and now working again.

I have used Read & Write’s Screenshot Reader feature to read text in a lockdown environment before. Did your student worker use this feature?

Subject: [Athen] respondus lockdown browser

Hello Athenians

Our school uses Respondus Lockdown Browser to secure Canvas quizzes so that students don't go surfing the net for answers. I know you can flip a switch and allow a specific student to use JAWS or NVDA in conjunction with Lockdown Browser to read quizzes. What we are in need of is a method of using a text-to-speech software program for students with print disabilities who are not blind. My student worker has tested Read & Write, Balabolka and Natural Reader, none of which function in the Lockdown Browser. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you for your kind and insightful advice,
