Towson University is currently accepting applications for a Digital Accessibility Analyst. This position provides full-time expert assistance to The Office of Technology Services (OTS) and other campus departments with digital accessibility consultation, research, review, and recommendations. It provides guidance on user interface and interactivity in the context of providing an online experience that is not only accessible but also allows for productive use by all audiences. This position provides the technical expertise needed to answer questions posed by The Office of Inclusion and Equity, and University Legal Counsel.

Description
The Digital Accessibility Analyst leads the OTS Accessibility workgroup comprised of a student staff team of Accessibility Associates. The workgroup focuses on developing digital accessibility education programming and presenting to the Towson University community; reviewing Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPAT) for web apps under development or considered for procurement; providing technical guidance as part of the campus initiative to make the online teaching and learning environment compliant with Towson University and Federal standards; supporting implementation of the University System of Maryland's (USM) digital accessibility guidance.

The Digital Accessibility Analyst participates in procurement reviews of campus technologies. Develops and conducts digital accessibility trainings/professional development. Conducts code level and screen reader based digital accessibility audits and provide guidance to developers on and off campus. Participates in campus workgroups and committees when a digital accessibility expert as needed. Provides supervision to digital accessibility student workers. Performs other duties as assigned or approved by this positions supervisor.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in technology analysis, support or development where the candidate has substantially participated in digital accessibility tasks. Advanced skills in use of a range of accessibility OS features, accessibility auditing software and assistive technologies. Advanced understanding of federal and state laws regarding digital accessibility. Advanced understanding of the WCAG 2.0 AA or most recent standard for web accessibility. Functional understanding of the accessibility tree, Aria code and other coding standards that produce well-built accessible web content and applications. Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills: Trusted Tester Certification, CSUN Digital Accessibility Certification and advanced understanding of the connections between effective accessible design and overall successful user interfaces for all users.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

A criminal background investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
