[Athen] Panasonic High-speed scanner repair?

I have a backup scanner. But I'm guessing many shops don't have that option.
So many devices are considered to be commodity items, even scanners that
cost many times more than my first three cars....the result is that the
companies just want us to buy a new scanner.

Setting aside the entire discussion of "why should we be scanning something
that we know exists in digital format already" (which is not a simple
exercise), should we start a conversation about sharing scanner duties? I
know ours sits idle for most of its life. I would be willing to discuss a
way to leverage our idle scanner if we can share the outputs of others.

Ok, gang, discuss :)
