Thanks, that worked. But what a long way around to do this. I have the option to show hidden folders and the folder doesn’t appear…I just looked. We need a less obscure way to do this. 😊

Cheers, Karen

Hi Karen,

Follow the instructions on this webpage

https://winaero.com/blog/desktop-shortcut-store-app-windows-10/

It is similar to what Larry suggested, the Microsoft store Apps, just live in a different folder. Once you get into the Applications folder, The snip and sketch tool has a create shortcut option in the right click menu.

If you need further help, let me know.

Thankx,

Joe Humbert

Not one of the options anymore. I have Pin to Start, Pin to Taskbar, App Settings, Rate and Review and Share.

If I go to my C drive and search for the app, it doesn’t show up. I’m trying to put Snip & Sketch on my desktop.

In checking some of the other applications like it does have the Open File Location but Snip & Sketch replaces the Windows Snipping Tool and has to be installed from the Microsoft Store.

The old Snipping Tool does have Open File Location but it looks like none of the Microsoft Store apps do.

Cheers, Karen

If you open the search field and type in the app in question, it will show up. Right mouse click on the app (shift f10) and select “open file location”. You may then right mouse click on the actual .exe file and send a shortcut to your desktop.

I know! Usually I’m the one giving keyboard commands!

I don’t do this often and can’t find the answer on any of the Microsoft sites or unhelpful community forums.

I want to take an app that is in the start menu and put it on my desktop. If I press the AppKey on It (either in the Start menu or in the Start menu tiles), there is no option to add it to the desktop and I can’t find a keyboard command to do this. I can drag it with the mouse, but I’m sure there used to be a keyboard command to do this.

I can’t find a way to open the file location to use Send to Desktop or Create Shortcut on Desktop…none of my “go to solutions are working.

Help!?

Cheers, Karen
