For anyone that is near Michigan or is willing to travel, I wanted to share information about MI AHEAD’s Fall Learning Day in Ann Arbor, MI.

The training is November 15th, 10am-3pm, in Ann Arbor at the Washtenaw ISD, and the topic is Digital Accessibility in Higher Education.

Description
This session will discuss strategies for bringing digital accessibility to campus and ways to implement accessibility relative to your institution or college’s scale. The session will also include a brief demonstration and overview on how to increase accessibility for the web and commonly used document types.

Objectives
Explore how to advocate for accessibility and how to prioritize your institution’s effort to make the work more reasonable, achievable, and focused on organizational mission.

– who to invite to the table
– what checkpoints to achieve
– how to implement a liaison program
– how to support faculty
– what you need to know about online course accessibility

A technical demo on Word, PowerPoint, and a quick overview of web accessibility provided*
*Resources will be shared to assist in identifying gaps in current processes and how to advocate for increased institutional accessibility support.

Tickets are $50 for MI AHEAD members and $75 for non-members. This includes lunch from Zingermans Deli.
