[Athen] CSUN & Coronavirus

Hello all!
I must admit I’m really disappointed CSUN hasn’t been proactive about keeping attendees in the loop and buried the cancellation list under “addendum”...

Has anyone heard a status update for the pre-conference sessions?

Stay healthy my west-coast colleagues!

Best,
Jillian

I think it's safe to say a majority of sessions have been cancelled at this point. Sadly, Sheryl, Hadi, Tami, and I from the University of Washington have joined those who won't be attending, so between us that's 6 more sessions cancelled.

There's talk of organizing a virtual conference for a later date with many of the same presentations, independently of CSUN, and presumably free for all. And Deque for one is offering all of their sessions virtually:
https://www.deque.com/blog/deque-to-shift-its-csun-2020-presence-to-virtual/

I think there are other major vendors doing the same thing.

A rough audio-description would read aloud, "A chart appears on a page. On the right-hand side of each row on page one is a red X indicating that the session has been cancelled."

Each of those red X marks are images with no alt tag. Access fail.

i have to say reading that list of what has been cansaled fails my accessibility review there is no quick way to review with a screen reader they forgot blind people need that information to. i reely did not need to here all the dam numbers before every event and they could have made it a more navakable format just another reason i am starting to wonder if this conference is still viable

Howard,

I am signed up to attend, but was unaware of the cancellation of exhibitors. Are sessions being cancelled too?

Dear All,

Have any of you looked at or worked with Blackboard Ultra and tested the accessibility. Any feedback or information you can share would be great.

Thanks

Lorraine

Hello All:

I see quite a number of companies - Deque, Microsoft, Verizon, Pearson, Amazon, Adobe, CapitolOne - have pulled out of attending CSUN because of Coronavirus. And the latest cancellation is Teach Access.

A WAI working group meeting I was scheduled to attend has also been cancelled.

Just gauging other folks thoughts on this as I contemplate whether to change my plans.
