[Athen] Accessibility of Whova

Hi Lucy and Howard,

I am responding to each of you with my comments:

Howard – You are correct that Whova hosts multiple accessibility issues, and they did provide their VPAT, but it did not reveal what they know or understand accessibility. I asked during the demo to explain what they know about accessibility, and he couldn’t answer the question. We looked at ON24, but it is so expensive! ON24 worked for a well-known client that required an accessible platform for their participants with disabilities. There were some parts that the developers ran out of time to work on, and this forced the client to remove some features before the event. At this point, we are waiting on Bravura to see if they would create a mock-up for us to test. They claimed that they had to fix the platform for a client who required to meet the WCAG criteria.

Lucy – Does PlatformQ provide a test or mock-up platform? Would you mind sharing the representative’s or developer’s name and contact information?

Thank you!

Lori

Hi Lucy,

Whova seems to have accessibility problems and when you talk to the rep (or at least my rep), he doesn't seem to know much about accessibility. Still waiting for a VPAT and my tests with the desktop interface reveals some alt text and contrast issues. Terrill Thompson tested the mobile app and said voiceover had problems with it. Let me know if you find out anything more.

I hope to test out "attendee hub" from CVENT next week. They are usually better about accessibility.

Regards,
Howard

We're considering using Whova for some of our virtual events. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of the accessibility of Whova? Anecdotally from colleagues I've heard that it's good but would like to get some additional input.
