[Athen] Grammarly with a screen reader?

Since we are all voicing opinions here, I think it’s pretty sad when any college level student needs to use a grammar checker. Shouldn’t they be learning to write by reading well-written materials rather than having a computer catch their mistakes?

Sometimes IMOH, a computer isn’t the solution!

That's a disappointing response, to be sure.
Perhaps if they hear "our institution will not consider a site license for Grammarly's inaccessible software, and we share that information with other institutions" would ramp up their awareness to the point of addressing such a distinct accessibility failure. That's essentially what we do here, and perhaps they would take notice.

Ok, I'm a dreamer :)

We met with Grammarly a couple of months ago for a demo. When we informed them that the product does not meet our requirements for accessibility, the answer was just "thanks for letting me know" and an offer of a discount for students who want to purchase an individual license. No "we're working on it" or "I'll take that back to my team." So I don't think anything has changed.

sadly the grammarly people have known about this from the start and i don't think they ever spent any time fixing it. i would love it if it world but hay maybe they think one disability keeps you from having others.

Hi everyone,

Our library is offering free access to Grammarly Premium to all current students, faculty, and staff.

We have an instructor who is blind who says he is not able to successfully use Grammarly with his screen reader, Jaws.

Do any of you know of a way to get Grammarly to work with Jaws, or any other screen reader?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Best,

Russell
