Friends
Would you agree that all students with vision impairments are unique?
Specifics of documentation, history of mobility competencies and
observation as well as in interactive consultation with the student would
determine the access issues and needs for O&M training especially when the
campus and services are new to the student. Some students who become
disoriented easily and whose kinesthetic memory is a weakness will need O&M
at critical intervals to learn pathways while others may need initial O&M
and will find strategies, social competencies and communication skills to
manage to have ongoing access to programs, events and services.
