I would love to have a copy! My position was just updated to Alternate Media Specialist so I’m fairly new to this process. I’ve used AccessText Network, Bookshare, OpenLibrary, and PublisherLookup, but I would love to learn more about the resources I can use.

Hi Dustin.  I think you are not aware of many of the resources we use to find out publisher information and how to reach out to a publisher for files.  The vast majority of publishers do respond to our requests, and you can reach out to a publisher directly for files.

My Alternate Forman Production Manual might help you in this area. I go over how to request files, where to look for files, where to find publisher information, and etc. in the front part of the manual, which is all about the administrative functions of alternate format production.  The back part of the manual covers how to convert files to other formats, and may also be helpful.

If you’d like a copy of the manual, please let me know, and I will send you a link.  I give the manual to anyone that asks. It gets updated every year around November.
