Thank you very much to Catherine Stage, Leigh Mosley, and Patrick Burke for your helpful advice on learning German for a blind student.  I'll pass this along to the person who asked me.  I especially appreciate your offer to help, Patrick.  I don't have direct contact with the student, but will attempt to facilitate the communication if I hear the student wants to pursue this.
