Marshall,

Using Robert’s source for the Word file, you might consider trying out
Balabolka as a TTS app to create an audio file for your student. Balabolka
has a great selection of international voices and reads text in multiple
languages. There will have to be some alt format remediation done to the
textbook so all text is included, it’s formatted correctly with chapter
headings, styles applied, and pagination, etc.

Here’s a link for Balabolka:
http://www.cross-plus-a.com/balabolka.htm

You can choose between voices for Spanish from Spain with the vosotros
forms and seseo included, or Spanish from Mexico using the tú forms and no
seseos (th pronunciations of ç, ce, ci, etc.).

The audio file can be saved as an mp3.

Should you have a student with a reading disability, this multi-language
TTS reader can be used as it performs much like Kurzweil and R&W in
highlighting lines of text as it’s read aloud. Also, to allay fears &
concerns from your IT department, this app can be downloaded and used from
a USB flash drive and.not installed on any college computers.

Hope this is helpful.
