As a member of the executive board, I am sending this invitation reminder
out on behalf of ATHEN.  It is a great opportunity for someone who is
already a member of ATHEN but who has not yet had an opportunity to attend
the accessing high assistive technology conference.  There's a rather short
turnaround time. Please forgive crossposting.

*AN INVITATION* for a professional growth opportunity offered through ATHEN
(Access Technology in Higher Education Network) for current ATHEN members
who have not yet had the opportunity to attend our annual Accessing Higher
Ground adaptive technology conference held in Denver Colorado. This year’s
main conference dates are November 8-10, 2023.

*Ron Stewart Memorial Professional Development Scholarship*

In honor of one of the founding members of ATHEN, the ATHEN Executive
Council is happy to offer the Ron Stewart Professional Development
Scholarship.



Ron Stewart was an instrumental figure and champion of access technology in
higher education. In 2002, Ron Stewart helped to start the Access
Technology Higher Education Network (ATHEN) while continuing to work in the
field of access technology. ATHEN has flourished into an international
organization to collect and disseminate best practices in access technology
in the higher education environment as well as present a collective voice
for the professional practice of access technology in higher education.
ATHEN has become a continual sponsor of the Accessing Higher Ground
conference.

Shortly after Ron passed away in 2017, ATHEN set up this scholarship to
provide an opportunity for professionals in the field of adaptive
technologies to attend this international AT conference for the first time.
The purpose of the Ron Stewart Memorial Professional Development
Scholarship is to continue Ron’s mission to nurture access technology
professionals in higher education. To accomplish this, the scholarship will
provide financial assistance to a first-time, in-person, attendee to the
Accessing Higher Ground conference.



What’s included in the Scholarship Award?

·         General conference fees for Accessing Higher Ground Main
Conference (not including Pre-Conference or other packages)

·         Hotel accommodations for the conference (3 nights) at the
official conference hotel

·         Professional Membership in ATHEN for 1 year

*Note:* Recipient with be responsible for travel costs and meals

Requirements

·         Never attended the Accessing Higher Ground conference

·         Employed at a post-secondary institution in the field of access
technology



Scholarship Application Requirements

Complete the scholarship application:

·         Prepare a personal written statement on your future goals and
ambition to support access technology

·         Nomination by a current ATHEN member (Self-sponsorship allowed)

·         Letter of support from management or equivalent at current
institution

·         Email completed application materials to pdaward at athenpro.org
