Thank you for the input Andrea! I agree It is important to communicate with the student. It is definitely easier when the student already knows what enlarged print configurations work for them. Trouble comes in newly diagnosed situations where the student is at a loss trying to figure out what suits them the best. Sometimes they are also dealing with coming to terms with the diagnosis and may not have the resource to find the specifications by trial and error on their own. I thought if they are provided with a printed copy with varied styles, sizes etc it might be a good starting point that also gives them the confidence to figure out what suits them the best.

Thanks you!

Best,
Ramya

Every low vision student we’ve worked with has needed different specifications. I don’t know if there’s a “one-size-fits-all” sort of template for this, unfortunately. We always ask the student what they need or prefer as far as things like font size or line spacing or whatever, and make things specifically for the student’s needs.

Subject: [Athen] Enlarged Print Configuration Templates for Low Vision Students

Hello Everyone!

I am grateful for the support and ideas provided by the members of this forum!

Are there any tools or templates out there that can help figure out the best enlarged print configuration (font syle/size/line spacing, color contrast etc) for newly diagnosed low vision students. I have been using a basic template created using suggestions listed by University of Washington<https://www.washington.edu/doit/how-can-i-accommodate-students-low-vision>. I wanted to check if I am missing anything and would appreciate any additional resources.

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Ramya
