To: <DSSHE-L at listserv.buffalo.edu>

Dear All:

We write to apprise you of the restoration of the Access Text Network (ATN)
by the Association of American Publishers (AAP) following the sudden and
unexpected termination by the previous host earlier this year. Working with
our publisher members and the new vendor, we are preparing to re-launch the
ATN portal this week. In re-launching the site, it became clear that
rebuilding/restructuring of some of the site's functions would be
necessary. As such, ATN users will need to create new accounts when the
site is re-launched at https://accesstext.org/.

The process is straight-forward (and likely similar to the previous
process). Each Disability Student Services Office (DSSO) will create an
institutional profile, register the email addresses associated with the
DSSO, and provide the requested information in the appropriate fields in
the portal. You, on behalf of your institution, will need to accept the
Authorized User Membership Agreement, which defines your responsibilities
and privileges with respect to access to the portal and the use of the
Publisher Works for which you have requested an alternative format copy
(this agreement is materially similar to the previous agreement that
governed Authorized Users). Upon receipt of your information, the site's
administrator will verify your institution and authorize access to the
portal. Your DSSO primary contact will receive notification when the
authentication process has been completed.

Please note that the authorization process will take some time. If you have
not received your credentials by early next week, please reply to this
email to follow-up. Technical issues will likely arise; we will work as
quickly as reasonably possible to address the issues that arise. This has
not been a turn-key restoration.

We are also happy to connect you with the permissions department of the
relevant publisher for any requests that the system cannot yet meet. To
facilitate this, please provide all the relevant information regarding the
textbook/educational material your student is requesting to this email
address (accesstext at publishers.org<mailto:accesstext at publishers.org>).

Thank you for your patience as we worked to restore the ATN service. We
also thank the DSS offices that offered and provided their assistance to
AAP as we worked through this process. Your assistance is greatly
appreciated.
