Hi Edward (and list)

My group has a couple...though we primarily use the first two.

- ViewPlus Elite <https://viewplus.com/product/vp-elite/> - Our work
horse for primarily doing tactile graphics. It replaced our then very aged
and starting to fail ViewPlus Premier
<https://viewplus.com/product/vp-premier/>, the slower cousin of the
Elite. (Just to be clear, we were very happy with the Premier and was
comfortable and glad we were able to replace it with a newer and faster
version.)
- Index Basic-D v5 <https://www.indexbraille.com/en-us/braille-embossers>
- Our other work horse for primarily embossing text (and every once in a
while simple figures). Pretty sturdy given abuse/volume we put it through
like the v3 that we replaced. Though ours seems to have a strange issue
with interpoint & box lines we're still trying to figure out...but that's a
different and long story
- ViewPlus Delta <https://viewplus.com/product/vp-delta-2/> - We bought
this fella in between our Premier dying and were hopeful it could be a nice
hybrid between our (then) ViewPlus Premier in how we did our tactile
graphics and also the Braille from our Index Basic-D. Didn't quite fit our
use case so we don't fire it up as often. Biggest complaint I have is the
sheet feed mechanism gives us a lot of trouble. Supposedly newer editions
fixed it...so I'm told by the vendor.
- Bonus: Harpo Mountbatten <https://mountbattenbrailler.com/mountbatten/>
- We have an older version. Not really for volume embossing but we acquired
this and have occasionally used it to print once in a while special
projects or whatnot. Handy since prior to our Delta, all our embossing is
via continuous feed and this one did sheets.

So if the budget allows and your need requires it, we've been very happy
with our ViewPlus Elite handling the tactile graphics while leaving the
text embossing to our Index Basic-D.

The ViewPlus Elite gives more of a pyramid dots...so the Braille dots
aren't as pronounced but helps aid in complex/finer detail on tactile
graphics. The Index Basic-D handles the volume and gives very good firm
Braille dots.

Feel free to ask me on or off list if you want me to elaborate anything in
more detail.

Best of luck on your hunt~!

-Paul
