Not saying I’ve ever done this, but theoretically you could order the new book on Amazon, print the receipt, then cancel the order. Again, not saying you should do this, but if the student has provided proof of purchase and the publisher doesn’t like your proof, it might be a work around……

On a side note, while certain publishers will tell you that they require a new-book purchase, I have heard tales of many having luck by just providing a used-book POP, especially in the context of an online request form. Always worth a try,

Yes, CAP were the ones that sprang immediately to mind when I saw your subject line. 😊

We’ve run into this with them (and a couple of other presses) more than a few times over the years. Unfortunately the last resort is sometimes just to buy a new copy of the book ourselves to be able to present POP to the publisher rep.

Let me guess…one of the law book publishers… (West, Founations, Aspen, Carolina Press).

They can insist on a receipt for a new copy.  It is annoying, and these are the ONLY publishers I know of that are requiring it.  It’s all about the $$...
