materials from us sign a user agreement stating that they will not redistribute
any materials they receive from us.  I then deliver electronic materials
via YouSendIt, which has cut down considerably on my need to burn
CDs.  I do not ask for the materials to be returned.  My opinion
is that if the student has purchased the book, they have the right to keep the
alt format version the same way any other student would keep the print copy for
future reference if they so choose.  Note, however, that most of the
materials students are receiving from me are being converted in-house; I
currently am not acquiring materials through AccessText, so I am not referring
to publisher-supplied files here.  </FONT></SPAN></DIV>

<DIV>I am wondering how you all distribute textbook files to students who
use alternative formats? Do you still have them check out CD's for the term? Or
do you allow them to have electronic access to the files (e-mail or FTP like
sites)? When I first starting working in my current position my manager was
certain we had to stick with the CD check-out system. I am looking to see if
this has changed. What stops the students from moving the files to their
computers? </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Any thoughts on this would be helpful. I spend a lot of time making CD's
and tracking their return! Will this trend change when Access Text opens their
file sharing portal?</DIV>
