I have been using the camera adapter, as Doug mentioned, but a different mic: Go Mic USB. It is an amazing microphone for the price--studio audio quality, cardioid-omni mic. Very happy with it: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Samson-Mic-Compact-USB-Microphone/dp/B001R76D42">http://www.amazon.com/Samson-Mic-Compact-USB-Microphone/dp/B001R76D42</a>. I also use it with my laptop for recording screen casts that need audio out from the PC recorded as well.<br clear="all">

You can get the camera adapter that apple sells that has a usb input. With that the Blue Microphones Snowball mic works fine and can either work in omni-directional mode or cardiod, the latter to point toward just one source.<br>
<br>
For other mics or equipment needing more power, you'll likely need to plug a powered usb hub into that adapter then plug the device into the usb hub.<br><font color="#888888">
