I seem to recall that a previous version of ABBYY FR had this same problem with gigantic/unmanageable file sizes. We recently upgraded from ABBYY 9.0 to ABBYY 12. This is our first semester with version 12, and we are seeing that disk space is being consumed at an alarming rate. For example, the folder containing the entire output of our book production for Spring semester is 5GB. One book from this semester, produced with ABBYY 12 is taking up 17 GB. Have ABBYY’s default behaviors and settings changed markedly enough to cause this?
